The US government says it
intends to increase its efforts towards the strengthening and rebuilding
process of the Somali armed forces.
The
US government wants to double its support to the Somali security
agencies and the armed forces, according to US Assistant Secretary of
State, Bureau of African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
Speaking
at the US Department of State, Thomas-Greenfield said that Al Shabaab
had been losing ground to the allied forces in recent months and that
shows a sign of a weakening force.
She
said that the government of the United States has been working with its
partners in the Horn of Africa region on ways to eliminate Al Shabaab
militant group from the region.
She
hopes that the group will soon be defeated and promised that the US
government will increase its humanitarian support to Somalia.
