Mrs Räsänen who informed that her government is aware of the efforts the unrecognized nation of Somaliland has undertaken to ensure that its people live peacefully said that plans are afoot for more active intervention by Finland.
"We in Finland commend the people of Somaliland for
their successful efforts in the fight against terrorism and piracy" Said
the Finnish interior minister.
Upon briefing the meeting on various aspects prevalent in
his country Dr Suleiman Isse Hagaltosie urged the Finnish government to
increase its contribution to the national coffers in Hargeisa.

Said he "Our country which is incurring exorbitant
expenditures in activities related to maintaining peace, multi-sectored
developments as well as the fight on piracy and terrorism requires support from
all friendly quarters"
According to Helsinki based freelance reporter Mohamed Hasan Matan the meeting between the two ministers that took place at the interior ministry ended in acquiescence for the two governments to not only sustain but enhance bi-lateral relationships
The minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction-MRR&R Dr Suleiman Isse Hagaltosie who is on an official working visit has already held talks with various Finnish officials as well as Participated in a workshop organized by the International Office of Migration-IOM attended by Senior Finnish Security officers as well as the Norwegian and Finnish heads of IOM.
