The narrative of Academy Award winner Alex Gibney’s new documentary feature, “We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks,” largely follows the life and events of Julian Assange, the Australian hacker-cum-activist who became the face of WikiLeaks.
Currently, Assange is seeking refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy London while avoiding pending sexual assault charges in Sweden and possible criminal prosecution in the United States.In addition to Assange, the film also explores the life and motivations of Bradley Manning.
Manning is a U.S. Army private who is currently being court-marshaled for allegedly leaking State Department cables and a helicopter video (named “Collateral Murder”) to WikiLeaks.
