Fighting for the dream

Steel Dama Rama Jamas day starts very early and is busy from the first second. Her life has been a struggle against time since she was a single parent - then started her journey towards a life with education.

I called Rama Jama. I'm originally from Somalia. I am alone with five children and are now primary school through adult education. I dream of becoming a journalist.
The Jama wrote about himself NRK when she applied to be part of the Norwegian reality show Norwegian enough? . As she searched, she was 95 percent sure she was not going to attract interest.
The day after the application was submitted, started at six in the morning, and was as hectic as usual: Five children were awakened from a deep sleep. All should be helped with both dress and preparation of lunch.Three of the children aged 3-11 years were to be sent away to school, and two were to be followed to the nursery, which is located about 30 minutes walk away from the apartment as a family of six live in.
Little did the active and energetic lady that a phone call from NRK was what awaited this day. She was entering the gateway to the nursery when the phone rang. With one child in each hand, she could still answer the phone, but pretty short.
- NRK barely had to present themselves before I said I had to call them up again. I had a chance to talk to them at the time, said Jama, shaking his head.
But finally got the answer. NRK and Rama Jama, from the  Norwegian enough? has been in contact with each other since both the phone and during interviews and auditions. Jama said she had to go through 3-4 auditions before she finally got to know that she had come with.
- Why did you apply?
- The title of the Facebook link Broadcasting Corporation shared was: We live in Oslo, we know each other?  It sounded interesting. I amazesme that people from different cultures are not familiar with each other, not friends or invite each other home. Most of my friends are Norwegian. I knew I divorced me like a Somali lady, and I would disprove the stereotype category I invested in by people who do not know me, says Jama clearly engaged.
She makes it clear that not all Somali women are equal.
There are many out there who work hard every day to develop and integrate themselves into society. Not all Somali women are stay at home mothers who just give birth and suitable housing.
As soon betrays the lady about the challenges she got.  Double Liabilityshe calls it. She had two roles.
- I had to both defend hijab carriers and Somali women, because it affects my identity. I was not grumpy or annoyed for the comments and questions I received during shooting days, but I felt a great responsibility because I had to answer all questions connected with Somali women and hijab.
In the face of loneliness
Jama says that while she saw herself on TV, poured it into the SMS greetings from family, friends and acquaintances.
- They told me they were proud of me who dared take responsibility publicly and show who I am.
As she read through praise, she felt tears rolling down her cheeks.
- I realized how lonely I was at that moment I needed one most. There was no one present who could share the joy with me, she says.
War for the children's schooling
Jama has been a single parent for about three years. Her life has since been a battle against time. She even describes the struggle as a war. Yet she does what she can as well, namely a broad smile.
Jama is aware of the responsibility that comes with having children. It is not just to feed them and give them shelter. Being a parent is all about presence.
- I need to track their children's schooling. I must see them grow, make sure they are safe and help them become better at school. And it is not only just when one is alone in raising five children, but I'm not complaining, she says.
Alone Mom takes just as much part of each of their children's lives. She shows up at a parent, she is FAU Representative 6 class, where one of her children attend. She has been with the Independence Day Committee for the class to his 9 year old son.
- They are the best I've gotten out of my marriage. My kids require a lot of time, but they give me too much support and strength. As a mother I get the opportunity to develop my personality. The two oldest tells me that they are fortunate to children because they have a strong and ambitious mother. I do not regret one minute that I married because I had my children.
The goal as a light
Jama was illiterate in their homeland. She taught herself to eventually write letters although she did not benefit from it, and she learned it by himself. When she came to Norway, she got the opportunity to reach their goal, but the marriage ended.
- I've always had a dream to become educated. Certain matters in my life held me back. Eventually I began to think that it was a shame not to seize the opportunity. Finally I managed no more, says Jama.
She describes the "dream" as a light shining through the windows. The light will not disappear until she reaches the target. Some when she lost courage, facing the light back stronger.
- When are the light in my window pane and waving to me, to remind me I still have not reached the goal, but I'm well on the way, she says.
- Do you get time to yourself?
- I must get to. In my class I have duties as student council representative. There is a lot of and responsibility in everyday life, but it's nice to have so much confidence. You're not kidding with responsibility to take on - you have a post you must do your very best.
Want to be a journalist
she can not be inhibited by daily challenges. She has a dream to fulfill. The first thing she thinks of when she wakes's education, and she uses her last minutes alone to reflect on the day.
- I wonder if I could have done something different in upbringing. I think after I've managed to hurt anyone during the day. I will lay me with a clear conscience and get a good night's sleep.
The dream is to become a journalist. She tells about a memory from his childhood in Somalia.
- We were visited by men who gathered in the guest room. They always listened to the radio. I remember that I stood outside the door to the room to listen for radio voices. The job they have fascinated me, and I thought that it would work with when I grew up. In Norway, the conditions made for that I can take an education. She proves that she will continue to stand up energized in the morning until she has fulfilled the dream.Meanwhile, she continues to fight.
FACTS:

Saudi Arabia has deported more than 12,000 people to Somalia

Reports of immigrant abuse are widespread in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (AFP/File)

Human Rights Watch (HRW) says that Saudi Arabia has deported more than 12,000 people to conflict-ridden Somalia since the beginning of 2014, Press TV reports.
New deportees, including women and children, arrive on a daily basis at the Mogadishu international airport.
“I was involved in a fist fight with a Saudi man. He had offended me, but when security forces came, they apprehended me and jailed me for one and a half years.  To them, the foreigners are always wrong; the Saudis are never wrong, they can do anything to foreigners and walk freely,” said one of the deportees.
Another recent deportee narrated how brutal the Saudi security forces were in their disregard for foreigners.
“They arrested many of us and kept us in prison for four months, some became sick and there was no medical treatment. They tortured us and beat us up senselessly. They even forced us to remove our clothes and sleep on the ground. They have no respect for foreigners,” he said.
In a report last month, HRW urged Riyadh to end the summary deportations and honor its international obligations of protecting refugees.
In mid-January, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) also said that “south central Somalia is a very dangerous place,” and called on the Saudi government not to return anyone to a place where their life or freedom is threatened or where they face other serious harm.
Nevertheless, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) says the Somali Interior Ministry expects Saudi Arabia to deport another 30,000 in the coming weeks, further worsening the humanitarian crisis in the African country.
Since early November 2013, Saudi authorities have launched a visa crackdown on undocumented foreign workers, killing several people and imprisoning many others.
Riyadh has announced plans to create jobs for Saudi nationals by reducing the number of foreign workers, who total some nine million people.
Hundreds of thousands of workers have already left Saudi Arabia amid tough conditions for migrants.

Independence referendum: Deputy First Minister to lay out the challenges Scotland faces and argue independence is the only way to address them

NICOLA Sturgeon will tell a gathering of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry that a Yes vote will secure the powers needed to deliver prosperity and fairness,

by Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon

THE Deputy First Minister will lay out the challenges Scotland faces and argue that independence is the only way to address them, in a key speech today.
Nicola Sturgeon will tell a gathering of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) that a Yes vote will secure the powers needed to deliver prosperity and fairness, while proposals put forward by pro-union groups "fall far short" of what is needed.
She said plans to enhance Holyrood's fiscal powers within the UK lacked substance, a common plan and a guarantee of delivery.
Under Labour's proposals Westminster would continue to control almost three quarters of Scottish tax revenues, Ms Sturgeon will say, and two thirds of revenue in the case of the Liberal Democrats' plan.
"That means we would not retain the benefits of our investment in childcare, nor the benefits of savings to welfare payments from getting more people into work," she will tell the SCDI.
"And we would remain powerless to protect Scotland from Westminster's dismantling of the social security system.
"Significant economic taxes - notably corporation tax but also oil and gas revenues - would remain with Westminster. We would continue to lack the ability to use these powers to shape a competitive business environment or build a sustainable economy."
SCDI is an economic development organisation whose members include businesses, universities, government agencies, trade unions and charities.
Ms Sturgeon will address an event at the Glasgow Central Hotel this morning.
She will say: "The other parties have also made it clear they will not produce a common plan for more powers.
"While it is not surprising that there will be no common offer to the people of Scotland, given that the parties cannot agree amongst, never mind between themselves, it is nevertheless unacceptable.
"And it is also the case that the option of more powers is not on the ballot paper in September - meaning that there is no way for the people of Scotland to guarantee that any offer of more powers will actually be delivered."
With 200 days to go to the historic poll, Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael has said it is time for people living in Scotland to turn their attention to how they will vote, urging them to consider the impact of independence on key issues such as welfare, income tax and currency.
Mr Carmichael said: "We cannot afford to gamble with our nation's future - so that means making an informed choice and to do that we all need to get the facts.
"And nobody should think that this is not a decision that matters for them.
"Crucial decisions - like whether you keep the UK pound in your pocket and who will be a British citizen - rest on this vote."

Somaliland:Government Ministers Should Stop Interfering in Judicial Matters – Judiciary

Hargeisa - Members of Somaliland Judiciary have accused the current government of interference of the independent judiciary and rulings of the courts in the country and these allegations can be proved by a written statement from a cabinet Minister ordering a judge to drop charges against the accused in a case.

The Chairman of the Appeal court Judge Abdirashid Duraan and the chairman of Hargeisa district court Judge Feisal Abdillahi Ali and Prosecutor Hussein Belel during a press conference accused some cabinet ministers of pressuring them to release some suspects in custody and to drop all charges leveled against them.

The member of the judiciary in the press conference read letter writing and signed by the assistant Minister of Interior and in Charge of national security Mr. Abdullah Abokor Osman ordering them to immediately release the suspects in question.

The Hargeisa district chief magistrate Feisal speaking at the press conference said, “We are fed up and we also feel insulted as members of the independent judiciary and we can’t execute our work freely if the constant interference of our work by some cabinet ministers continues, persons who are try using their position and influence to release those accused persons who we have sentenced and convicted after finding them guilty of crimes.

“How do you expect us to fulfill our work and duties if whenever were sentence a guilty person that person becomes the crony of a certain big shot in the government or he is related to someone or he is from certain clan or he is the brother in law to some cabinet minister and it’s so sad to see our justice is based who knows who and not the law”, He stated.

The Hargeisa district chief magistrate went on to say, “Some Ministers have in the past tried to act as lawyers for convicted thugs and after we in the judiciary take our stand by declining to relent to their self-serving orders they in turn accuse us (Judiciary) of taking bribes,

The chairman of the court of Appeal speaking at the press briefing said, “Out of the 5800 cases that reached the courts last year 4800 were settled and before anyone decides to criticize the judiciary on how they serve justice they should first of all ask themselves, do those in the judiciary accorded the rights they deserve ,do they earn good salaries ,what facilities do they use in dispensing justice ,How does their work environment look like and do those junior staff who work with them get any means of assistance in form of training  but again we try our best under all this circumstances to dispense justice and I believe we deserve more than the bad mouthing.

Also present during the press conference was one of Court Prosecutors Mr. Hussien Belel who said, “I want to declare here today the notion which say the judiciary is free from any outside inference is false and the judiciary in this country is not free from interference, to prove my words we have in front of me a letter from the assistant Minister of Interior Mr. Abdillahi Abokor and signed by him ordering the prosecutor office of the immediate release and the dropping of all charges against a suspect in a theft case and which states as follows:-

REF: For the Sake of Peace and Safeguarding the General, We Do Hereby Order You to Drop all Charges in the Land case and Refer this Matter to Local Government Committee on Solving Land  Disputes Peace

In Accordance with Article #17 which addresses the issue of land cases but the Minister is forgetting the issue at hand is not a land dispute matter but a theft case what he didn’t know is that he just wrote the letter without even wanting to know the details of the issue of contention but we are required to do and execute our duties  and we are committed to execute them without fear or remorse or any hindrance or interference and we won’t allow a Minister or even someone higher to interfere with our work and we urges anyone who has evidence which may implicated us in bribery or case fixing to come forward and may I remind you our work speaks for its self and we are determined to be independent from any outside influence whatsoever and that goes to  those ministers who are used to accusing the judiciary of being rotten.

Mr. Mohamed Said a Lawyer who spoke at the press briefing said, “The Minister who know for bad mouthing the judiciary should be fired by the President and we don’t understand why he still working for the government when he is always saying bad things about it.
