The ’40 Most Awaited International Funding Opportunities in 2015′ is an essential document for every fundraiser trying to identify funding opportunities and preparing to apply for them throughout the year.

Some of these opportunities are already open for receiving applications while others will request proposals down the year. 


AGFUND International Prize for Human Development
AGFUND International Prize for Human Development Projects is awarded every year with the aim of inciting and encouraging innovation and creativity in the areas of human development.
The idea of the Prize was stemmed from AGFUND’s approach to enhance development performance and support key development projects in order to achieve the goal of sustainability and investment in people especially the vulnerable groups, particularly women and children in developing countries.
Award Categories
  1. First category: US$ 200,000- Projects that are funded, designed and implemented by UN agencies or international and regional NGOs.
  2. Second category: US$ 150,000 -Projects that are funded designed and implemented by national NGOs.
  3. Third category: US$ 100,000- Projects that are funded designed and implemented by government ministries and public agencies.
  4. Fourth category: US$ 50,000- Projects that are funded designed and implemented by individuals.
Theme
  • Each year, the Prize Committee selects the thematic focus for the Prize, taking into account the diversification and non-repetitive of themes.
  • The Prize themes always focus on the promotion of human knowledge in the field of human development and its proper management.
How to Nominate?
  • The nominators shall not nominate their own projects, or projects in the implementation of which they have participated.
  • The nominator should be an agency or a qualified expert who is thoroughly aware of the project, in terms of design, objectives, target beneficiaries, funding, implementation and successful impact.
  • The documents required from the implementing agency in support of the nomination: Please send the following together with the Nomination Form, bearing in mind that the documents submitted shall be more qualitative than quantitative:
    1. Feasibility Study (if applicable).
    2. Project document in full with annexes if any
    3. Any amendments made to the project document during implementation.
    4. Interim financial and physical reports prepared by the project implementation team.
    5. Annual reports covering both financial and physical aspects and highlighting the constraints faced.
    6. Monitoring and evaluation repots including impact evaluation.
    7. Project final completion report.
    8. Any documents that highlight the activities of the project
    9. Two Letters of Recommendation from two different entities

Catalytic Fund Grants 2015 for Urban Development

The call for proposals for Catalytic Fund Grants 2015 for Urban Development will open in May-June 2015. The Catalytic Fund (CATF) is a Cities Alliance funding instrument which provides grant support for innovative projects that strengthen and promote the role of cities in poverty reduction and in sustainable urban development.
Focus areas for proposals
Proposals are requested along any one of five focus areas. All proposals will need to demonstrate howgender is mainstreamed through the planned activities.
  1. Know your city finances and assets-Proposals should aim to widen and deepen citizens’ involvement into municipal finance systems.
  2. Know your citizens – social accountability.
  3. Know ALL of your city and its constituencies- Proposals should aim to produce innovative tools, methodologies.
  4. Know the future potential of your city – methodologies for planning.
  5. Know the emerging issues- Any other type of proposal that aims to develop innovations in data collection, tools and processes on any issue that can be justified as having future pivotal significance for cities.
Grant Limit
The Limit grant size requests to between US $50,000 – US $200,000.
Project Eligibility
  • The projects should be implemented in countries that are on the OECD DAC List of Aid Recipients.
  • The project should be sponsored by at least one Cities Alliance member. However, multiple sponsors are strongly encouraged. Sponsorship(s) must be secured prior to submission of the proposed project.
How to Apply?
  • All the applicants must submit the Cities Alliance Concept Note template.
  • The concept Notes can be in English, French or Spanish.
  • The concept Notes must provide all of the information and support documentation requested.
  • Concept Notes should be submitted via e-mail only to the Cities Alliance Secretariat email address given on the website.
