Ababa June 17/2013 Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom said
construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam will never stop.
Speaking at a forum organized to discuss with Ethiopians living in
foreign countries on the Diaspora policy here on Saturday, Dr. Tedros
said construction of the Dam will never stop though Egyptian authorities
and politicians are engaged in disseminating negative information.
The Minister said the Dam being constructed with the resource of the Ethiopian people is intended to reduce poverty and meet the increasing power demand in the country. He said the Egyptian authorities’ and politicians' misinformation caused sadness on part of Ethiopians.
Ethiopia is keen to work in collaboration with Egypt but construction of the Dam will never stop, the minister stressed. Dr. Tedros expressed belief that all Ethiopians will work closely towards success of construction of the Dam.
Concerning the Diaspora policy the Minister said that the policy is drafted after holding thorough consultation and formulating foreign experiences. The forum is aimed at enriching the policy through generating additional inputs, he said.
